4-H Military Partnerships

The United States Department of Agriculture, National Institute of Food and Agriculture, 4-H National Headquarters established formal partnerships with U.S. Army Child, Youth and School Services, U.S. Air Force Child and Youth Programs, U.S. Navy Child and Youth Programs to support positive youth development education for youth whose parents are serving in the military.

Through the 4-H Military Partnerships, the resources of the Land Grant University—youth development professionals, research based curricula, and high quality training and technical assistance—are brought to military youth programs. University and County Extension 4-H staff serve as project directors and/or Extension 4-H Military Liaisons.

National 4-H Headquarters relies upon the Land Grant University Extension System across the country to build strong partnerships with the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, National Guard, and Reserve entities in order to provide technical assistance and training for military staff and to establish 4-H Clubs for military youth living on and off installation. Additionally, 4-H seeks to serve those children whose parents are serving in the National Guard and Reserve and live in communities with little or no military presence.
